Ruined City

Ruined City

A Poem by Kamala

The bloody deaths from you see today
Though accidents are usually the cause
From explosions to an old car with flaws
Screaming! People running in disarray
Old buildings with signs that say, "Keep away!"
Buildings topple from the fire's mighty jaws
The people will run without any pause
Not anyone would want to die that way
Alas! The savage flames have disappeared
People come out of their hiding places
The fear and sadness etched on their faces
Blackened ashes cover the ruined street
People looking for a person to greet
As they head out to the blackened city street
