![]() Myrtle BeachA Poem by KamalTrivediOne by one- the streams of light appear to present the ocean to the world. As they slowly reach the sky directly above me- I feel them overpowering my body and weakening my soul. What more could I ask for? What more could I want...then to sit here...away from my busy life- and watch the true busiest place on earth. The neverending flock of birds...the constant rising of the sun...the drifting of the clouds...and the waves, not gently tapping, but hitting the shore to confirm their nonstop presence. What is it about this place that brings peace of mind? Is it the sights? The sounds? The smell? Or the taste of the never-before touched air coming towards you from this vast body of water? Sitting here longermakes my heart beat with the sound of the waves and the currents of the ocean. As I sit here and try to ponder what I feel-it seems a challenge to understand all of the thoughts that cloud my head. If an ocean can have such an impact on a human soul, why isn't it a wonder of the world? Such a creation- infatuating, mesmerizing, captivating- we categorize these man-made stuctures as the seven wonders of the world. Where do the oceans, the trees, the sun, moon, and stars stand? How about the world? Maybe it's because it is a list too great. The wind sensationally flows in all directions, as it tries to speak out to the world...if only I could speak back- what would I say? Would I say anything at all or would I run scared? After all, I am only a small spec on this earth compared to this ocean. I redirect myself from my thoughts and look up- at the busiest place on earth- the busiest place in the world...where the flock of birds have disappeared...the clouds stand still...the waves have slowed...and the streams have finished lighting the entire ocean and presenting it to the world. I have never seen a day- so eager to rise- such a busy place preparing itself to live another day. As everything stops, I see the sun sitting directly above, diagonally, watching me.....as my mind tosses and turns with confusion.
