No judgment.

No judgment.

A Poem by KamalTrivedi

People are so limited to what they believe.
People are so limited to what they do.
Understand and relate to all walks of life.
Let it all add up and make a more wise you.

You say, what do I have in common with black people?
What do I have in common with whites?
Well then what do I have in common with Indians. I was born in America.
Realize...We're all human in this life.

Why do you go swimming in the ocean?
Do you think that you're a fish?
Or do you enjoy the temporary relation
of enjoying your present location and wish?

I know rich, educated people
who don't take care of their kids and wife.
Yet I've known members in a gang,
who for their family, risked their life.

But if I present you with the rich ones.
You won't judge me. Not at all.
So you think you can judge a book by its cover?
Well, that really makes you small.

Understanding good karma is difficult.
And judgments are for God to make.
You questioning my versatility,
is making your narrow path in such a vast world, look fake.

I love how my mother raised me...
To be nice and to love all.
To never judge others and feel entitled,
or God will make me fall.

Just don't bend your morals.
And just don't break the law.
Try and connect with those around you.
Understand why they have flaws.

You don't have to share a passion.
You don't have to share a job.
You could both be present at that moment,
and just smile and share a bond.

It's about understanding an entire species
and how they are wired to work.
It's not about the color of skin,
but the environment in which they lurk.

Don't feel too high and mighty.
There are many more abundant than you.
And if they even dared to judge,
You would feel it unfair too.

They may not know your whole story.
Just your cover they can read.
So remember there is much, much more
Behind all these faces that you meet.

Very good point. Our situations and environment cause us to do what we do, so you will never be able to calculate someone else's good or bad karma by the little but you know about them. I always like the use of the word "You" in poems like this. It forces the reader to react as though we are the one being addressed directly, and it better shows us our flaws
