Fleeting feelings

Fleeting feelings

A Poem by KalliRose

A perfect current
A calming stream
A holding hand
A sailor's serene

The boat rocks gently
Back and fourth
A gentle caress
A steady force

Until one day
The sailor looks up
And falls in love
With a passing duck

He watches: bewildered, preoccupied
as the duck floats and glides on by

At edge of the boat
With a wobble and a creak
The sailor leans out
to capture his beak

But the duck was too fast
The sailor fell in
He gave up his boat
For a fleeting whim
