I Love You, Peter PanA Poem by Kaliou
19 years had passed since he had seen the child,
and yet, he had not grown a single inch, sprouted any unwanted hair, his voice did not thicken, he had not lost the sparkle in his eyes. In fact, the boy had not changed at all. After 19 years, he was still a child. "How is this possible?" inquired the man with confusion. "You see sir," said the boy while he was lighting a cigarette, "When I was young, I put my heart in this box, and kept it hidden under my bed." As soon as he was done speaking, the boy's eyes drifted between the man and the box, and then, with shaky hands, he offered the man the box. Knowing what would happen, the man then took the boy's heart into his hands, and it slowly started to crack and chip away. The sparkle in the boy's eyes was gone, but for the first time in 19 years, The Boy Smiled.... © 2011 KaliouReviews
