To Be A Fairy
Mother, did you hear of the earth elves
Guarding secrets in their forest realms?
Oh what a gift it would be
To be one of the faery
Brother, did you hear of silly sprites
The foreign wars waged with winged knights?
To journey far and sometimes like fossegrim
Disappear in laughter and bubbling light.
Sister, did you hear of the ageless sylph
Immortal souls prized more than mortal wealth
Showering the earth with feathered wings
And did you, sister, ever hear one sing?
Refrain:
Mother, did you hear of the earth elves
Guarding secrets in their forest realms?
"Oh what a gift it would be
To be one of the faery!"
Brother, did you hear of the djinn
Or perhaps you'll stick with leprechauns
Irish shoemakers dressed in green
And just who knows what treasure's hiding!
Sister, did you hear of the dryads
Tree nymphs named in ancient Greece
They're bound to their sacred trees eternally
And love to disguise themselves in leaves~
Father, did you ever hear of the gnomes
They live mainly underground
Ruled by Gob on his crystal throne
They'll care for almost anything
Although the world of the fae may seem to be
A little small, a little unseen
No fairy will escape your eye
If you clap three times and really try!
"Oh what a gift it is to be
A fairy, a fairy!
Oh what a gift it is to be
To be one of the faery!"
The Fairy Queen
Little Gillian loved to tease
The fairies in the big oak trees
And sometimes she wondered that if she
Might bring a fairy home to daddy and mommy
It seemed to be a difficult task to endure
She'd have to go where the sun sleeps forever
She would leave her home to go the place
Where fairies dreamed, a fragant land of grace
To the haven where the fairies danced
A place where all her tired hopes came alive
And she might find herself somewhere free
Alight with the fae who all mean well you see
Little Gillian would find the fairy queen
Convince her to come out from the fairy ring
So into the forest Gill had scurried away
Away from her parents into a new sort of day
Where moon woke up, to an orange-cream light
As the sunshine slipped away into sea
Her heart simply skipped as the merry man sang
"Gillian Gillian come dance with me!"
But not for too long, because then the bad man came
Covered by darkness, with a bright starry wand
And with his hand he wiped before Gillian's eyes
The land covered in sadness, no more of fairy paradise
Then the trolls stomped in defiance, for they were an alliance
To the fair ones of the sacred hill
Soon they came a-roaring through the trees they stormed
And scared the bad man with his dark evil charms
The Little Gardner
The sandy beaches softly lay
Where roaming Sailors will often stay
Behind the hillside not far from home
Is where my daughter often roams
She says it is her peaceful garden
Sapphire buds in fields so golden
It is a grove of gentle flowers
Spending days, hours upon hours
Kneading through the dough of earth
Planting bulbs with tears of mirth
Coming home covered with sand
Another treasure in her hand
In a bed of lilies by the sea
Where the winds often play merrily
My daughter learns to sow the seeds
That will blossom into prosperity
