The silenceA Poem by KaliAnnI swear I don't write just depressing things. Here's another one I need for my portfolio. He wasn’t sure how much time had passed. Two, maybe three hours. The soles of his feet ached, his lips sealed from lack of moisture. His black and white striped shirt clung to his body, his face the same solid white it had been since this morning, decorated with the same combination of black symbols and red lip stick. The echoes of applause rang in his ears. The ground shook from laughter, but all he could see were the empty stands staring at him with awe and expectation. The crowd never seemed so pleased. The others ignored the after thoughts. Their images of hard whips and crimson red corridors were always there but ignored like an exiled clown or a broken acrobat. He knew he had to find them soon. Change his clothes, take off his make up, lie in bed for another sleepless night. But for the moment, he stood still. The arena rested in silence, and the whole world listened as he whisper everything he hated about being a mime.© 2013 KaliAnnReviews
