Radio Silence

Radio Silence

A Poem by Ariel B.

I’m falling in love

     with being alone, maintaining

Radio silence, not at home

     to visitors today.

Radio silence;

     the world has gone still.

I can hear the sounds

     of empty space

Where others once walked -

     now my heart beats slowly,

Evenly,

     only for me.

I have closed a door

     and locked it, and swallowed

The key.

Ariel Chance,

~Pondering in the silence~

A door slams shut on the world outside - the loneliness a fact of bliss or fear.

To each line of this poem comes the feeling of the obvious emptiness yet the blessing of peace. Odd as it may sound, it is true, aloneness is by far a different creature than loneliness. We crave, demand, and embrace "our, me-time,” this is just human nature and we all need it from time to time.

You have given Radio Silence a new meaning and a respectful place to call home~

Great job, thank you for sharing,

Legacy

By the way, would you consider placing this poem in the Enlightenment contest from Poetic Infusion Society?

I recognize the silence you speak of very well. You did a nice job on this and somehow I hear more from it then what's actually written. Perhaps it's a reflection of my inner-voice nodding his head in agreement.

This piece is as yummy as the kind of silence you describe in it: gratifying silence! I wrote a piece recently called Thanks A.M. while longing for this! Thanks.
