Aureole

Aureole

A Poem by Ariel B.

The sun wraps strong fingers

around your face

and leaves a halo

in the space

behind your head:

for a few brief moments, you wear

the painful brightness,

the blinding whiteness,

the lightness of angels.

And I

turn my eyes away

and gaze instead at your shadow.

this gives me a feeling of unworthiness, or maybe of an expectation so "bright" that cant bear to see fail, turn dull or dark, so we look away. very well written.
