Antipodes

Antipodes

A Poem by Ariel B.

Here I am across the world

You across the wide salt seas

Always this distance between us

You are no one

You are only words

Syntax and syllables

Synthesized

Held together by loneliness

Always this distance between us

Wistful imaginings

Twisting my hands in your hair

All you are is slipping away from me

Syntax and syllables

Elegant phrases

Tie you together

Handcuffs and winding ropes

Sum of sundry vague longings

Always this distance between us

Here we are across the world

Over the wide salt seas

Hold me in your eyes

Let me hold you in my arms

And the dawn light cover us

I would like for this to eventually become a song. Ideas for making it so would be lovely - ought it to rhyme, or to have more structure? Or punctuation to make it easier on the eye? Anything you've got, really - I'd love opinions.

I could happily drown in the verbal dance going on throughout your creative poetic/song~grammatical tango dips lyrical waltz~ exquisite~

On another note, I really like that you re-use syntax and syllables. This really is an elegant piece. ^.^

Ah, I was indeed going to suggest we put this to music. It felt like you were writing a song. Oh, and um, shall I say Kangaroo inspired? Have you read my "A Canadian Love Affair" ?
