AwakenA Chapter by KalebX_![]() A continuation of my last story![]()
With a clasp of lightning I woke up, the bitter taste of something I had struggle to recall coated my tongue. Where was I and how long had I been here? I took a moment to take in my surroundings, a bright white bedside table held a single withered rose and a half burnt out candle giving light to the run down room. A window left ajar allowed a cool breeze to make it's way to my cheek, outside the window I could see dark ominous storm clouds quickly advancing towards the building. On the other side of the room was a decrepit door, barely hanging on its hinges, an old pair of shoes stained blood red laid next to it. Just as I went to lift myself off of the bed the storm let loose, the rain being lit up by a bluish white light seemed to fall in slow motion. I could almost taste the electricity in the air through the bitterness, I curled back up into bed. The noise was deafening, between the thunder and the consist sound of water pelting the roof I could barely hear myself think. That's when a voice spoke, her voice, as sickly sweet as ever. My eyes widened as I looked around for her, "Ah you have risen, Destroyer." Nemesis softly cooed in my eye. I knew she wasn't here but I couldn't stop my eyes from darted around, scanning every inch of the room. "Why have you bought me here? Where the hell am I?" I demanded into the empty room, it was poorly lit apart from the candle and the occasional flash of lightning. Silence met my question for awhile, the rumble of thunder outside seemed to shake the flames of the candle. Something else sat on the bedside table, as I reached out to grab the letter that I swear wasn't there just before the branding on my skin seemed to glow with a indigo tone. Four purple X's made my mind race to the events that took place. The four people I held closest, killed at my own hands. Yet I did not feel remorse, I had a new perspective on just what my purpose was. I was the Destroyer, my very purpose to destroy those who had chose me to be their saviour. I had always felt like an outcast even amongst the small group of people who were just like me. The gods had robbed me, they stole my chance at a normal life and I had been given no option but to act as a pawn for them. The storm was living proof that I had failed my first mission, Zeus escaped and I had nearly paid the ultimate price for my mistakes. My mind kept settling on one thing but it was not this. Claire. A tinge of pain held me still as I tried to get up, the scene replayed in my head as she had drove her sword straight through me. The look of disbelief in her eyes as I told her about the others, my memories faded to black after this. I managed to get to my feet, my sword and pack had be placed carefully on the other side of the table. As I looked down at my body, the fresh ugly scar just below my rib cage stared back at me. Inside the bedside I found clean clothes and after getting dressed, I decided to open the letter. Handwritten in the middle of a blank piece of paper, only three words were scribbled down "It's time, Destroyer"
