Where has that Era Flown?

Where has that Era Flown?

A Poem by Different Wings
"

Changes and transformations

"
A cell phone joins my Leatherman,
where has that era flown?
When use gives into ruin,
what have these changes shown?

Imagination once was key,
now email plagues my sleep
underappreciated
is the music that runs deep

Nature's art has been transfigured,
mystery is dully 'known,'
vitality is vivid waning,
what's the purpose of a phone?

The phone is an icon and a symbol. It matters not the connection for in all its brilliance technology has brought us both closer and further apart from each other. I'm going off on a tangent now... phones are developing their own personality - they are now companions and suited to our type of lifestyle and personality, somewhat like a digital pet but more... they personify personification but will never be that one person. What comes to us is an amalgamation of fragments of real persons and how we get so attached and connected. When it doesn't ring, beep, vibrate, or speak... we feel the rejection and something akin to being ignored. When we don't charge it the phone gets colder still... and its attentions cease, leaving us with a haunting withdrawal.

"Imagination once was key,
now email plagues my sleep"
