One Loving MotherA Poem by Different WingsInspired by a woman on a trainHere is the picture of one loving mother: She has two children born, both clothed and clearly cared for. She has come prepared, bringing both instruments and experience; the necessities of painting a smile on a face. She hears their unspoken needs: There is a band of pink in the hair of the girl, and a circle of nourishment in the hand of her brother. She speaks in a tongue, I do not know, but this matters not, for I can see her powerful eyes and with her eyes, her heart. She may have money, or class, or status. She may not; It is of no matter. She cares with her voice; The voice that does not chastise, or raise, or anger. The voice that is synonymous with care, and feeling, and patience. She guides her two miraculous children She herself a miracle The picture of one loving mother. © 2011 Different WingsAuthor's Note
