Lichen Lingers Lonely

Lichen Lingers Lonely

A Poem by Different Wings

As the pine needles chases the grasses
as the sun labours arc-wise
as the snow disappears into the ground
as the wind considers no cease
as the stones reroute trickling
as the stream constructs an armoured shell
as the blue sky turns grey beneath twigs
as the logs provide only temporary shelter
as the lichen lingers lonely
joined by its rocky summit cousins
twisting free from earth's hard edge
practicing you will find me then.

Well, it may have British spelling, but that doesn't mean it's a great work of art :)
