Pink Ribbon

Pink Ribbon

A Poem by Kala Benfield
"

Yellow, then Pink. for all the girls out there with cancer or any kind of sickness, just know that your beautiful and God loves you and so do your friends in family . <3

"
Your translucent veins,
are now visible;
They suit you
beautifully.

Play it like a game.
Fight to your death,
in the literal since.
Make it to the next level.
Play til your heart
stops beating.

The world is spinning.
Yes, your still alive.
Your breaths will shorten,
you'll grasp it like the flowers
being brought to you.

The stars will sing for you.
Your a beautiful child.
Golden in Our Fathers eyes.
Platinum and rare to
everyone else.

The ocean will swallow
your tears.
The air will have to be won.
Walls feel like collapsing.

Confusion will fluster your
pale face.
It'll burn your arms and
manipulate your brain.
Answers will be a blur
to you.

You'll be accustomed to change.
Forever will feel closer to you,
and shorter for your love.

They'll pace back and forth
as the white sheets become tattered
and torn.
Their eyes will blister when
the pain increases.

Fear is the least of you.
Beauty reflects on the confidence.
Prayer will become your only activity.

Believe you'll win.
Swear to them when they say
you can't achieve.
Let them die inside,
not you darling,
not you.

Pink ribbons will flow through the
branch of every tree
When the hair falls,
you'll be picked up.
When the ribbons are cut,
you've won.

Their beautiful.
Just like you.

This is BY FAR my favorite!!! I love this poem so much Michaela! You should definitely fight to get this one published. I know a lot of people would be encouraged by it! I really only found a few spelling errors and a couple instances where word placing could be improved. I have edited it by line.

2. are now visible. (period)

7. since should be sense (sp)

9. 'til (add apostrophe)

12. your should be you're (sp)

13. shorten; (semi-colon)

17. Your should be you're (sp)

18. Father's (add apostrophe)

19. bring "down" down ( :o) ) to the next line

32. no comma after "you"

37. move "when" to the following line

48. move "the" to the next line

The second to last line shoud be They're instead of Their. Or you could say They are beautiful, (comma instead of period)
Just like you.

Really minor tweaking! I better see these edits too ;) I know it isn't fun, but it is all part of the writing process. More time is spent editing than actual writing. Take care and God Bless. I will be back next week to edit another piece.
