Where did time go?

Where did time go?

A Poem by Kala Benfield

These prison's arms won't have me at arrest.

These walls,

won't hold me down.

I will not be standing in my near future...

Underground.

I'm settling in on my productions.

Prison.

I'm crawling,

scratching my jaw on the concrete;

I'm licking up the glass candy tears that have fallen,

and are now broken.

When the world treats us way too fairly,

shake the chains that keep us bound.

to wake us up

and keep the mask fragile,

willing to take place in the life we have mapped.

Hold on to me and don't let me go.

Suffocate me with all your loosely bound chains.

I need the calming sensation you reveal

when water flows from your hazel.

So far away from the aching cold;

the heat that's so bold.

Where, oh, where did time go?
