Smiles

Smiles

A Poem by Kala Benfield

Truth be told I have loved once.

Only once have loved twice,

you my darlng, I shall love.

I will run blissfully,

and fall gracefully.

Nothing to lose but the soul that pours from your gaze,

this is all but a game.

Trash your smile and lift mine,

I am determined to find what's left.

Trash your eyes,

and leave them.

They're just fine.

Breathe easy.

With your heart I have captured,

my glistening smile has defeated you.

Oh, so lovely with your smiles.

Stupid animals, leave me be.

I found him first;

He's mine to devour.
