Drain

Drain

A Poem by Kala Benfield

We take our sweet time.

Draining eachothers energy with every lung crushing kiss.

Violently sucking the life out of one another.

But it's the truth and the fearlessness behind your swollen eyes and puckered lips,

that drains the life out of me.

The last time I saw you,

you left me breathless.

You left me fear-born.

My life was towering down in the making

of your footsteps at every branch of the stairs.

Our emotions dance again as we say our final good-byes,

because everything is you.

But are you everything?

Only time will tell us my darling.

Only time will let us know if we're really ment to be with together.

I'm encircled by the bars in a prison cell.

Your eyes.

They trap me in a cage, or cell if you will,

where nothing but affection flows through,

instead of air.

The sweet innocent glances you give me, tear me down to my roots.

Pulling me under.

Pulling me by the anchor I've named your heart.

It's bitter sweet.

Your ensuing silences when you look at me.

Oh, how do I compare with such perfectness?

What competition have I applied myself to?

Your the miracle that sturs the silence into a rapturing head-spinning dilemma.

But all in all. Yours truly is of great essence in your divine strength.

Oh, how I love you so.

But too coward and coursed to tell you.
