Save Me

Save Me

A Poem by Kala Benfield

No more tears left to cry.

          I'm out.

Dry.

If there was one time I'd give,

to feel your heart beat,

next to mine.

Beating,

in a rapid, heavy pace,

to kiss the heartache away,

to make up for fumbling footsteps,

to save me from myself.

To Save Me.

No more love left to give.

I'm out.

Lost.

If there was one moment,

to be yours again,

to be left without fear, to feel secure.

The kiss to save me from the tears,

that swell my face.

To Save Me.

No more hate left to throw.

I'm out.

Alone.

The wounds you scarred,

left me just a tourniquet.

Reaching out.

But no arms to grab hold,

to save me from myself.

To Save Me.

There's no blame.

Only frustrastion.

Anger.

Pain.

But to whom?

Myself.

I was frightened.

Took one step further,

and fell

No one there.

To Save Me.
