whats yours is now yours

whats yours is now yours

A Poem by Kala Benfield

I've found it hard at times to breathe.
like everything has escaped from my eternal being and is laying on top
of my external carcass.

& at times, its much more graceful.
My whole life is nirvana,
Transcending into different places of my conscience.
Riveting and exciting.

Could you imagine a universe where the mouse ate the cat
and the dog bit the flea?
We'd replace water with lithium and everything
would be as if it was normal.

Your humorous ambition to ruin what is left.
Now run away and hide from me,
how you feel.
I'll always taste the same, even when you say my name.
But you'll still be a bitter sweet remembrance of what
could have been.

You've pierced your tongue with forked deceit and double edge fears.
You still feign for a carving of my love that drains from me
like acid
& it sears flesh like blades.

We could be the same, but we're changing all together
& the futures mine to blame.
Your pride is stained.

But say you love me anyway.
