I Need to Feel.

I Need to Feel.

A Poem by Kala Benfield

I smoke these cigarettes
because they kiss me when you can't.
I smoke this defectless smoke and
taste a kind of freedom you only
feel when you're above all else.
I stay cold in the freezing,
enthralled by the warmth of your
body, it makes me lose feeling.
I can speak in a beautiful tongue
all night long,
but these attractive words that
I'm feeding your ears,
wont tell the temperature
of our fevers.
A type of heat that makes my knees
weak and my body ache as if being
stung by a thousand bees.
You give me the life that I need.
You dehydrate the bugs that
stop to feed.
I chain the skeletons in my closet,
and pierce this pretty
tongue of mine,
Chase down ever lie
and have you buy it.
I intoxicate every feeling
right underneath your sheets,
while we drink a bottle of poison,
making my throat scream.
I'll scar my name into your walls,
so you'll forget yours,
but never mine.
