A Soldiers SweetheartA Poem by Kala BenfieldMy Fiance is in the Army and i am currently waiting for him to come home. I wrote this poem for the soldier sweethearts waiting for there men to return.
These words are meant for a strong man.
One who will be there forever to hold my hand. They're for the man who stands next to me. For a man who fights for us to be free. Forever I'll hold these words next us, and cherish them everyday til the sun comes up. These words are for the men with sweethearts at home. The promises that are worn on our fingers of silver and gold. If we were simple, we would own no home, we would own no land. We would have no silver or gold wedding bands. No money, no power. Yes, with love, not with lust, and our lucky penny's that say "IN GOD WE TRUST." Blood, sweat, and tears. Screaming and crying and our bleeding ears. With your broken wings, wounds and scars. We'll carry you through the galaxies and stars. Because we are broken as well. We scream, cuss, and bite our tongue. We hear when you cry out loud and bruising lungs. Yes, there is fear. Yes, there are tears. Yes, we cry, And yes, we die inside. Just like the soldiers who cry for us. The sweethearts back home. Waiting for there men to hold them tight and never let them go.
