Death do us Part

Death do us Part

A Poem by Kala Benfield

They said that death do them part.
The end of the night,
surely they new
not even death could
part their love.

A distance,
an engrossing,
libating the sting
of her missing.

Lyrics,
a scribe of his heart,
empty threats,
and the sting
piercing her throat.

But not one day could they live,
if you drowned their favorite drink
in blood, would they refuse to sip.

Their eyes would not see
the light of day that He has blessed.
None would compare to their sight they see.
Their life be embedded with fear,
of not waking up to ones face.

They falter at one another's presence.
As if the flag had fallen.
As if clocks wouldn't move.

How great would it be to feel nothing.
To walk grey and colorless.
Unguided with fear of being happy.
To pretend not to feel threatened by
the souls that have been mistreated,
to feel their empty threats penetrate
your heart.

But with a world filled with grey and color,
love was found in between the specks of grey
and a new beginning was found

They said that death do them part.
But forever more he promised,
death be the enemy of a love
to never end.
