Eternity

Eternity

A Poem by Kala Benfield

Follow me into the sea.
we'll drown
and immortalize you
& me.
I feared my pale completion
had blown my cover;
Eternity came in
& swept us
under.
My pulse flat lines when I'm
near you.
Sitting completely unaware
of what I'm about to
do.
Your spine trembles
&
you lose.
I've risen the stakes
this game, I play
For Keeps.
I said prayers for someone
Perfect.
I said prayers for someone
Kind.
Your eyes drip lust,
I found them softer.
I kept that in mind.
I let all the promises sleep
& let our love be the
envy of the
eternity to awake.
