Deary, I Know

Deary, I know this maybe awkward

I know this maybe sad

But I want this to be happy

So please smile,

Even if the smiles aren’t for me.

You know I will always love you.

I will always care.

You are the one that made me open my eyes.

But she was the one to make me feel alive.

I can’t help but smile when I think of you.

I can’t help but blush when I think of her.

To me you were good but she is the best.

She turned my life around.

I live for today now.

I don’t think what if?

I don’t have to.

She is the one that makes everything feel right.

She did say “He is no good.. He’ll just break your bright shining soul.”

Bad enough I didn’t listen

But amazingly she was still there for me.

She puts the shattered back together.

She changes the mistreated to treated correctly.

She will always be my baby

She’ll always be mine.

I know none of this actually rhymed.

But it’s good enough for me.

Cause the only thing I wanted to do,

Is say that I’m glad I had the chance to meet you.

And I am finally happy, even though it isn’t with you.

There is a lot of emotion put into this poem. I like it. I also find it cool that you say you realise this doesn't actually rhyme, yet not all poems even do. I especially liked the last three lines of your poem, the ending. Somehow it seems to tie up the feelings in a way.
