A Poem by Kaitlyn

You can’t stay away but you can’t stay there

The ones you do love

Will be left behind

Take what you can.

Take the memories

But never take the pain.

They found ways to disguise the abuse

They dressed you up in their fake apparel

They put the fire in your eyes out

Taped your mouth to cover up the screams

But you felt it

But you don’t know

You have to break the walls between

Destroying all the pain.

Losing parts of yourself .

Close all the gaps.

Losing the only escape.

What do you choose?

Or maybe he’ll finally decide to save you.

There is always more behind the door than any one can know, to leave that pain yet feel no shame, to take all you need to gain, this life is hard for some I know, and you wrote this poem well.
For deep within this well of ours we may hold out a hand that saves, but that hand may ease the pain, but cannot cure or erase

I don't know if the main character is the one doing the abuse or receiving it. this makes for an interesting read. I like the take everything take the memories but not the pain. Often people hold onto pain to remind them. Good write.
