RainA Poem by JaenelleEvansWalking through the rain when it seems like there's a cloud hanging just over your head. The first drop of rain gently caressed down her cheek And as the water began to tumble she slowed the pacing of
her feet, There was no point in rushing; she was drenched no matter
what, She began to walk, embraced the rain, her destination long
since forgot. Her hair was plastered against her face, The wind had just began to give chase, Bolts of lightning split the sky, As rolls of thunder tumbled by. It was one of those moments when it rained just for her, When the day had been hell and the world did concur, It’s Nature’s one chance to kick her while she’s down, The clouds knew to thicken when she began to frown. The trees doubled over against such a force, Though the wind would subside later of course, A fresh clean smell enriched the breeze, With an icy cold kick she began to freeze. No one pulled over; they didn’t even look twice, But she no longer expected anyone to play nice, The lightning shone brightly, though high up above, It dimly reminded her of the storms she used to love. And the rain still drummed on, Just as fast, just as strong, The wind, he still howled, And the trees, they all growled. The rain never left her but soon she didn’t mind, She began to adjust and it almost felt kind, There’s something about being out in the rain, No matter how many times the effect is the same. Then finally she reaches home water from her still drips, But there is a small smile tugging gently at her lips. © 2013 JaenelleEvansAuthor's Note
