When Will We Ever Learn?

When Will We Ever Learn?

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

They've got us hiding in the dark, chasing circles on our heels.
They tell us they've got the answers, we need only take the pills.
But it's been days now, and all I see is blur.
They've got us medicated. When will we ever learn?

We've all got problems, lurking beneath our shells.
Everyone has secrets, locked away on their closet's shelves.
And no matter where the flame is, it will always burn.
So why can't we ever seem learn?

All those kids are self medicating, ignoring the meditation.
Open their hands up, well they'll take nearly anything.
And they don't know that's just what they want.
Want us to forget, to take it like they say.
Well half of us will, and we'll sit around all day and daze.
When will we ever learn?
