Dishonorable Deceit

Dishonorable Deceit

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

Wasted away by the lies at your tongue-
Held by the promises that you'd never keep.
Stupid enough to believe you could settle with one-
Stupid for thinking I'd be all that you'd need.

Waiting for you, I lost all my hope-
Wasted the light by watching the door.
Never knowing the future would lead me to mope-
And lead you to bed with a w***e.

Chains clasped tightly, just as tight as the pain.
Cuffs tearing into the freshness of flesh.
Slowly driving away all that was sane-
Leaving only a brain-washed mess.

Wasted away by the lies I believed-
Held by the hope I was sure you'd bring.
Stupid enough to let myself bleed-
Stupid enough to sell my soul for a ring.

Waiting for you, I lost all my trust-
Wasted away in me, all that was good.
I wasted my life for a simple man's lust-
Like I never thought I would.
