The Poison of Assumption

The Poison of Assumption

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

Eyes that see only what they please,
May never know the truth.

Hands that clasp only to the past
May never move on through.

Assumptions made will build gates
To keep those closest out.

Open minds will be the water
That helps the seedling sprout.

A great seedling without water
Is nothing but a seed.

But a great seedling nourished
Will be an even greater tree.
