History Repeats Itself

History Repeats Itself

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

Soft steps and a blank expression;

Hands held close, hushed words exchanged.

She is under his repression

Much like I was when I had changed.

Cautious is the eye that wanders;

Only am I the one to tell.

To her the truth is but slander-

For it is she who is now under his spell.

My lips quiver to shout the truth,

But I render it useless for it to leave.

If I were to greet her with my words...

Who is to say she'll believe?

The past must be swallowed and ignored.

I should not force her to my experiences.

I will share when she stands at my door

In search of helpful sources.

I fell in love with the beauty of your words, Kaitlyn. You have a way with unfolding events in a professional and enchanting manner. Gracefully-worded poem, dare I say.
