Light in the Fire

Light in the Fire

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

Come on boy, why don't you pass me another cup?
I'm feeling good, and you feel like you're in luck.
So take out that joint, and let us light it up...
We can spend some time with the backseat of your truck.

It turns me on, the way you met that guy's face with your fist.
So pull me to you and meet my lips with a kiss.
I don't quite care if in the morning, you don't exist-
I'm looking for some fun, not a lot of relationship.

I've got some close ties with my Mary Jane and my Whiskey-
They are the only significant others that I want to need.
They're the best company, and they leave me a bit tipsy
There's nothing more I love than my alcohol and my weed.

But if things get personal once we take off our clothes,
And we go places we thought we'd never go,
Then let's take it fast, because I don't like this that slow-
I want to have fun that's perfectly open to show.

I'm not looking to be taken, but I'm not that single, either-
I'm not looking for restrictions, just some light for my fire,
Something tells me that your warmth would be strong,
And that tonight we're going to spend time redefining "fun."
