Time to Move On

Time to Move On

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

There's a tide,
washing over my life,
and like a stone your smoothing,
until you're gone.
I don't know what has happened,
but it was good while it lasted,
now it's time to move on.
Please don't cry again,
please don't tell me you need me to live in your life.
Let's face it,
you know me,
but you no longer love me,
and my hearts not in your eyes.
I am not the one you want to better yourself for,
nor am I the one you want to see.
I'm just the girl you come to when you're lonely,
because you know you can sleep under my sheets.
I no longer want to cry,
I do not want to be used by you.
I am tired of the tears you brought this year,
I no longer wish to bruise.
You loved me for a little while,
but I feel we broke apart when you had your fill.
Now I must find someone who loves me, like you never will.
