Is She Going to Leave?

Is She Going to Leave?

A Poem by Kaitlyn Raiford

Finally, now you see, that what you were doing was wrong.
Finally now, and I cannot believe, that it has taken you so long.

Now all that you can say is sorry.
Now all you can do is plead.
Now you can lay awake and worry:
"Is she going to leave?"

Yes, I think that I just might.
I suppose you might just be wondering why.

I have found someone, who raises his hand to wave me good bye,
and not to bring it down upon me to leave a bruise.
I have found someone who can sleep under my sheets and hold me close,
and not at all make me feel used.
I have found someone who cries when he knows I'm hurt,
not yell until I cry.
He does not try to feel up my skirt,
or follow my body with his eyes.

He is a simple man.
He is a man true, and young.
He is the one who has taken my hand,
and has led me from...

Nights of abuse, and nights of pain.
Nights of feeling used, and rape.
Days full of fake smiles and fighting back tears.
Days full of wonder and full of fear.

He is taking my heart and bringing it shelter.
He is cleaning out the cuts.
I am happy that I have found another,
Who can clean up all you messed up.
