Knowing You Were There

Memories and dreams, let us watch them grow up together

     I had a dream once. We danced all night and day. While we danced, I cried tears of joy. When I woke up, I was still crying, but this time tears of sadness. The alarm rang in my ears as I wiped the tears away. On the queen sized bed, my queen was nowhere to be seen. I slowly stood up and dressed myself as you normally would. Outside the sun was peeking out its head.
     Today we had pancakes. They ate them up so happily, that my sadness slowly fade. They too were dressed up. After breakfast we left the house to come see you. It was your day of the week you see.
     As we drove to meet you, flashes echoed through my head, of the day it happened, the day you left me and walk out of my life. Small tears formed in the corner of my eyes.
     We eventually arrived at your new home, the children and I. They had brought flowers as presents, your favorite kind, Lilium auratum, the goldband lily. They placed them on your bed, the petals gracing themselves on the words "Beloved Wife, Loving Mother". I watched them tell you all kinds of stories as I stood over them. They seemed so happy to be with you. I wondered if they could feel it. I wondered if they could feel your presence as I could. It felt as if your warm embrace was holding onto me.
     I smiled. I felt your happiness overflow within me as the memories of the accident vanished. Eventually our children quieted down, having said what they wanted to say. Slowly, we left. At the gate, I turned my head around to get one more glance at your final resting place. It seemed to me that there was a figure standing there. A beautiful woman, one I had not seen in over three years. She was smiling at me and waving. Her smile was that of an angels, radiating even the darkest corners. I waved back and left with our children, knowing you were there, watching over us.
