The Chocolate Man

The Chocolate Man

A Story by Anthony Hall
"

A funny story in rhyme about a chocolate man, who meets a mother and her son on the beach. Not only a story for children but one that will bring pleasure to adults also.

"
"There's a chocolate man over there Mum" ,said Mark
" He's swimming in the sea.
He looks so nice to eat, Mum
Can we take him home for tea?"
Mum laughed for a while
Then she saw this strange figure on top of a wave
He was balancing on top of a surfboard
Waving his arms as if he wanted to be saved.
Mum said to Mark "Stop acting the fool."
She had seen him but was trying to act cool.
Mum took a closer look through her binoculars
And stood and visibly shook.
He was definately made of chocolate
As she took another look.
As Mum gave the binoculars to Mark
She just stood and shook from head to toe
Mark shouted out, "Crikey Mum
He's waving at us, you know."
Mark said, "Blimey Mum he's got chocolate buttons
For his ears and he's got blue smarties for his eyes.
Honest Mum I'm not telling you any lies.
He's got a chocolate banana haircut
It looks like he's got striped liquorice for his trunks."
Mum was laughing so much she said,
" Did you have any drink for lunch?"
"Honest Mum, said Mark,  " have a look and see."
Mother still laughing was so amazed
When she saw his pink striped candy legs
And his strawberry coloured feet
It was the most amazing sight she would ever meet.
This funny man had a mouth shaped like a diamond,
It sparkled in the sun.
But his nose was a most peculiar shape,
It looked like it was moulded out of a currant bun.
His arms seem to be made of chocolate
As Mark's Mum said, "Come on, run."
But Mark wouldn't hear of it,
He said " No, he could be fun."
"Fun?  said his mother, " have you gone quite mad?
I'm beginning to think that I am.
Go on, Mark, run and fetch your Dad."
Mark wouldn't run, he wouldn't move,
I think his mothers hair had turned grey,
She couldn't run, Because her legs wouldn't move anyway.
She stood there frozen to the spot
As the chocolate man came wading out of the sea,
She was terrified, she shouted " Mark,
Please run and get help,
I think the Chocolate Mans going to get me."
Mark laughed and laughed
But as this strange man got near,
Mark's laughter suddenly changed to fear.
He saw how big the man was,
He must have been seven feet tall.
