In ragsA Poem by Anthony HallDrug addict
She sings from a dirty pavement
Where she sits begging for love, She sings of peace and freedom And forgiveness from the lord above. You wouldn't know she had been a singer In a night club way down town, As she swigs from the bottle by her side On her face the lines begin to frown. She smiles as somebody drops her a coin Knowing thats the next drink or smoke, You never know she could be lucky And get enough coins for some coke. She doesn't care, why should she She's hooked up to drugs and pain, It;s all her life consists of nowadays She wont know it if she goes insane. She just carries on singing In the hope that some day, She'll find the person she used to be But in reality that road is a long way away. © 2013 Anthony HallReviews
