Vanity

Vanity

A Poem by KaineD

Vanity
the rotting meat sack atop my sagging shoulders
a feast for flies that would forsake the loveliest of corpses
Come taste my hide
Festering stench gnaws at my raven black hair
tears deep into my cuticles
Those glittering black quills
So that I may never wash it out
Seeping meaty pink juices into my porcelain skin
putrid pools collect in my pores
Staining bluish black
and evergreen
My beauty is only skin deep
rendering a transparency
a wedding veil over a dung heap
sustaining light to the wretched
A tongue quivers at my belly
barred teeth gnawing beneath my wrist
twitching eyeballs at my throat
I was born a special anybody
special with the knowledge that I am nothing
but the filth I hide
