A Poem by Kain Smith
"

A reflection on my thoughts over an incident that occurred yesterday.

"
Why is it so impossible
For people to see who I truly am?
What about me obscures
My true self to such a degree?

Is my energy so feminine
That you cannot see
My masculinity?

Is my manner so girlish
That you cannot tell
A man's heart beats here?

Is my voice so high
That you cannot hear
Its deep resonance?

Are those lumps on my chest
Truly so obvious
Beneath their bindings?
Why would you stare so close
At my chest, regardless?

Do my hips sway,
Accursed years of socialization
Ingraining the behavior into me?

So I seem too apologetic
For my very existence?

What is it I do,
What is it you see,
That makes it so hard
To see the true me?
