Lust

Lust

A Poem by Kailey
"

Just a little free verse poem from the heart.

"

Your wings are of a feathery-white

Your heart is made of pure gold

But those black shackles around your ankles

They don’t suit you very well

Is it so hard to remove them

Those shackles made of Coal?

They burn holes into your body

An eternal fire encasing your soul

I suppose it is difficult

Removing those icy chains

They keep growing tighter

With the repetition of that mistake

And you can’t really escape your obsession

Because of the ecstasy it provides

But you really should know,

Shouldn’t you?

Of the agony you’ll soon devise

This man that so enthralls you

His Mask of Lies should be clear to see

But your sight has already adjusted

To the transgressions dirtying his skin

His eyes are like dark chasms

His lips speak words of mock romance

He holds out his hand like a gentleman

And leads you down an entangled road of pleasure and pain

He hums your name passionately

Charmingly alluring, pleasurably sensual

The strong, sweet scent of his body

Mixing and intermingling with yours

Even now, Self-Control disowns you

And Willpower forsakes you

You follow this demon into the Depths

As burning ashes cover your flesh

Like a slovenly, overfed tyrant

He sates his appetite on your flesh

Your blood becomes his fine wine

And your body, his vessel

He uses you until he is satisfied

Then readies to leave you behind

He looks to you seductively

And licks his poisonous lips slowly

“I’ll return to you soon enough, my love,”

He says and chuckles in wicked satisfaction

“I delight in your screams of pleasure

But even more, your tears of despair.”

As his presence departs from you

Your shame engulfs you

You walk to the glassy mirror and kneel

Then reach out and claw at your guilty reflection

“I’m sorry,” you say in a shaking whisper

“You both deserve better from me.

I will change

I will become stronger!”

Yet

Even with these spoken words

Not even a week shall pass

And you’ll be red-handed once again

“I have already failed you both

Far more times than are allotted

Even if my sins are washed from my skin

These stains will never leave my soul.”

And so

As you take his hand again

And he leads you to your ultimate demise

The cycle chases its own tail

In a never-ending act of shame
