Everything and NothingA Poem by KailaniWhat I think of the word impossible and the color- and lack of color- it is.
It's blue and green and purple
The colors of the sea Serenity and peace The color of despair and pain Of life and death Of what we give and take [Nothing is impossible.] It's red and orange and yellow The color of the sun Vibrance and strength The color of joy and laughter Of friendship and optimism Of what we think and do. [Whoever said that never tried slamming a revolving door.] It's black and white and gray The color of a book Acceptance and dreams The color of right and wrong Of everything in between Of the past and future. [Dreams are filled with impossibilities.] It's everything, all colors seen The color of a rainbow Imagination and freedom The color of jewels and music Of song and dance Of what we say and write. [That's why they're only dreams.] It's nothing, the absence of color The color of an unwritten story Innocence and purity The color of faith and rain Of the wind and hope Of what we have and haven't done. [Everything is impossible until you try.] It's the present The color of the soul Love and light The color of forgiveness and belief Of whispers and secrets Of what we've lost and what we'll gain [If you can't accept failure, don't try.] It's the color of lies and the truth, Of memory and what we forget Of every what-if and fear It's the color of a voice Of chances taken and opportunities lost Of of what we fake and what's sincere [Listen to all the reasons it's impossible, then do it anyways...] Impossible cannot be defined as a single color Not a tint nor a shade It is everything and nothing at once Translucent and solid Opaque and clear Faded and focused Muted and distinct A color not yet found nor named One that is unique and ever-changing [....because there's no such thing as impossible.] © 2011 KailaniAuthor's Note
