Same Despite the DifferencesA Poem by Kailani
Let us come together
Let us mingle in peace Let us laugh with each other Let us forget petty differences I don't care about your religion I don't care about your race The color of your skin doesn't matter to me Nor the language that you speak We are all the same on the inside We all have a heart, a brain, two lungs, Cut us with a knife and we all bleed red, We all have feelings and ideas Opinions and a point of view All you have to do is get to know one another To know the real person underneath To have the intelligence and the wisdom The strength and non-ignorance To look past our differences I don't care if you have a disease If you're missing a limb If you are young or old I don't care if you're blind or deaf Or in any way different from me All that matters is the person underneath If you're good and know right from wrong If you're good and do your best To live right and humanely in this world Yes, let us come together Let us mingle in peace Let us laugh together And share in friendship For we are the same Despite the differences © 2010 KailaniAuthor's Note
