 I found an old book of Uncle Lester's today. I guess he got it when he traveled. It's about rituals and stuff that people used to practice a long time ago. It says they used to sacrifice people to gods for all kinds of stuff. Makes me think of the people from my dreams. I wonder if that's what they're doing.

 Maybe they're indians. Uncle Lester said that before we got here they would do all kinds of stuff. He said that in Panama they used to cut out hearts just to make the sun rise. I wonder what they did so they could sleep.

"they used to cut out hearts just to make the sun rise. I wonder what they did so they could sleep." is my favorite line so far, especially with the build up of her bad dreams and feeling afraid to fall asleep.
