 I put the necklace in a box in the closet today. Maybe if I don't look at it for a while I'll get over my imagination. Aunt Eunice was walking around today so maybe I'll start feeling better too. Uncle Lester said he didn't get sick because he built his strength up in Panama when he was younger.

 I wonder what Panama is like. He said there's jungle everywhere. He even said some places in the jungle have big stone temples with gold inside. One day, I wanna go get some of that gold. I'll be rich enough that mom won't have to work ever again!

 I really miss her. I wonder if she's okay and if she's gotten any letters from dad. Last we heard he was on some island in the Pacific. Gwadasomething. I hope he's ok.

Good balance between pushing forward the mystery and how she feels about her family and her new life. I just realized I don't know the narrators name. I think we don't need to know it.
