Protected and LovedA Poem by Naoemi HannaWaking to your arms around meI woke up to your arms across
my chest. Your breathe against my nape,
warming my spine. My vulnerability so exposed
yet so well-sheltered. I was on your chest before I
sleep and am awaken with you around me.
I tried reaching for the
ringing alarm; Extending my arms but refused
to move an inch of my body. I want you not to be awake. I want you not to let go of
your arms.
“Let it be. Stay with me a
little longer,” was what you said; And intuitively you pulled me
closer to you. It was more precious than
usual “good morning” and breakfast in bed; Teary eyed, I snuggled closer
with my palms on your forearms.
I like waking up with your
arms crossing in front of my chest. © 2014 Naoemi Hanna |
