Leg Day Revenge

Leg Day Revenge

A Poem by Kaede16

Little field trip to the gym last night.

-I took my legs-

Lied to them miserably,

And together we laughed all the way there.

Told them ‘twas biceps’ turn, and

Yes, I admit to it being unfair.

Took them first to the cardio machines

And over and over we climbed the electric stair.

My poor little legs endured all the pain

Convinced that after that, there was nothing else.

Oh poor ladies were not impressed

When I took them straight to the calf press.

My gastrocnemius wailed in pain

As the muscle stretched and stretched

I could almost hear them two

Plotting to get their revenge.

Today morning I had forgotten

Of the adventures that occurred.

Went to work, all day sitting

And off to a concert, I left!

It was then I started to notice

The revenge rightly deserved.

Because now my legs are throbbing,

Oh no, I can’t feel my legs!

little silly thing I wrote about a recent experience. It isn't supposed to have much literary value, just thought would be funny, since I can't rhyme at all xD

for those who have ever been to the gym .. we know these legs ... usually neglected ... hardest to encourage to the press ;) fun read for sure ... so congrats on that .. bravo you have recognized a weakness in you poetic tool box, rhyming, and went to work on it .. i don't go to the gym anymore but get enough "stair climbing" forgetting this or that and having to go up and down them to get what was forgotten. :}

This poem made me laugh out loud. Well done - this will become my new gym mantra for when I hate my life afterwards. Lol

I've been practicing yoga for 49 years, with no gym experience worth mentioning, so this piece has helped me, in all of its grand silliness, to comprehend the gym atmosphere.
Nicely played, K16!

My pleasure, and you may be right about which is harder, but I'll take flexibility over muscle bulk .. read more
Anyone who has been a gym member can identify with this amusing piece. That's why in my old age I stick with yoga, tai chi and Qi Gong. I just got fed up with tendonitis.

no pain, no gain ... :)
well this is quite amusing...and unfortunately I can relate in a way...dealing with restless leg syndrome quite often...i play tennis twice a week and do so much running...i think my legs get irritated when i am not playing....and they want to keep running.
this was fun...i got to laugh with the poem and at myself.

hahaha I think your legs appreciate the exercise tho. Thank you for passing by. Cheers !
As someone who hits the gym thrice a week I totally get this and often forget after a holiday just how quickly you loose tone and suffer next day after the first day back.

I haven't gone all summer! Definitely paid the price lol but I'm back to it now :)
I smiled as I read your lines about your poor legs. I don't go to the gym, but I bought an exercise bike recently and over did it. The following morning apart from suffering cramps, I could barely walk. A lesson we will both remember :) Nicely penned Kaede16.
