Chasing sunsets

Chasing sunsets

A Poem by Kaede16
"

-To D, thank you for waking me-

"
I know you dress like the night and you wander
entangled in melodies.
-Sometimes melodramas-
That you like neon roses and the kitchen,
And your weakness lies in the combustible waves of homonymous sirens.
I know that your best friend visits you,
at least once every two days
Bringing you old muses and new brushes.
But you see that I forget you, and you are late.

If my Sun is rising in the East,
tell me, why do I insist on chasing sunsets?

this is beautiful in an insecure way. the speaker has uncertainty as to why she still does what she does. the question at the end is great - very effective. she loves, misses & is concerned for him but she feels that it leaves her vulnerable. where is he & what's keeping him? that is the thing about love - we become exposed when we let our guard down. i was hooked from start to finish. i'm in ... :)

There be hidden thoughts in your words. the pros and cons of might or not, Find this poem very visual because you're hinting and point at the same time whilst not actually clarifying! Interesting wandering behind the scenes.. perhaps.. but subtly theatrical. ' If my Sun is rising in the East, - tell me, why do I insist on chasing sunsets? ' Could almost be a ploy.. ...

I loved the complete poem dear poet. Chasing rainbows, even in old age. We still seek. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

This is my favorite one on your page so far... It makes me think of having illogical attractions to undesirable, albeit artistic personalities... I'm curious though, what's the meaning of the word homonymous in this context?

Ah, now I got it... I really enjoy learning about the personal meanings in others' poems. Thanks :)
If you keep running east with a slight northerly slant you might get to north in a decade or so... I often chase muses in all sorts of directions sometimes I can hold one long enough to write her but they are tricky little things not given to possession so I count myself lucky to never have what I crave but always taste

An elegantly written sad poem filled with regret and told with emotive description as the protagonist feels that her significant other may not be as true to her as she would like but never-the-less she still holds a candle for him. Nicely penned.
