Orbit The Sun

Orbit The Sun

A Poem by Kae Martyndale
"

Another one from high school

"

How long do I have to wait
Until the trickling stream
Roars like thunder
And fills my ears
With the sound
Of thousands of oceans
Rushing by my window

How many times do I have to ask
Before the faint starlight
Expands like bush-fire
An exploding universe
Of falling meteorites
Sharing its glow
With everyone

How many moments must be lost
Before the numb throbbing
Breaks the barrier
And like an earthquake
Sends its vibrations
From a fault
To the world

How many nights must be over
Before the shrill blindness
Lets in light
With enough power
To bake the soul
Like a rocket in orbit
Around the sun
