The Image of You

The Image of You

A Poem by Kae Martyndale
"

Written in 2004

"

You gave me all the little pieces of you
The ones that didn’t add up to anything much
But I pieced them all together over time
I understood.

I gave you anything you wanted
I gave you so much more than that
I gave you my heart
Intact.

Your philosophy of pieces
Has rubbed off on me
There is a space I used to fill
But now…

The pieces of my soul
Don’t add to anything much
Nothing more than a memory
Of the image of you
