A Lot of Space

A Lot of Space

A Poem by Kae Martyndale
"

Written with Sonal Soni

"

Beautiful senseless
He appears to me
Like a dream I could create
But when held within the confines
Of my personal space,
Does not vaporize
Only smiles
And squeezes back

Golden moments were created
In the vacuum of my mind
But greasy hands
Left fingerprints on the polished surface
And the pewter plated memories
Tarnished in the sun
Before they could be captured
By Polaroid film

The memories are cheapened
When the hands are gone
But the finger-marks remain
When I know I’m not trend
Just a cheap date
A cup of coffee
The flicker of a street lamp
Lost in the void

Of a parking lot space

I love the imagery of this piece, Kae.
"But greasy hands

You have a talent for showcasing the despair and instability of a relationship. Emotions, such as love, seem to be the most volatile aspects of life.. a relationship is one of the most difficult things to maintain and can easily become 'tarnished,' abused, or taken for granted.
I really loved the imagery of the tarnished pewter =) Great Write!
